Welcome to Hummingbird Cay, a fully private, family-owned island located ~5 miles off Great Exuma in the Bahamas. For the past 5 decades, the island has been used as a family retreat and research center for marine biology students. Enjoy a 2,500ft white sandy beach, 2 smaller beaches & easy access to fabulous fishing, diving and boating.
The space
The perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is a true tropical nature-lover's dream. From a wellness getaway with friends to adventurous family vacation - come create lasting memories on Hummingbird Cay.
This is a unique experience on a remote, fully private island. The accommodations have full power, internet and air conditioning and basic amenities but please be aware this is not a 5-star hotel.
The island boasts a 2,500-foot white sandy beach, two smaller beaches and easy access to fabulous fishing, diving and boating. There are 5 individual dwellings of varying size, an industrial-sized kitchen, a communal gathering space, a swimming pool, large deck with beautiful sunsets and an expansive array of tropical flora and fauna.
There are 2 Main dwellings on the island available for rent:
WHITE HOUSE: 2 Bedrooms with queen-sized beds and 2 full bathrooms
PINK HOUSE: 2 Bedrooms with two twin beds per room and 2 full bathrooms
Guest access
The entire island is yours during the stay.
We do have a small staff (4) that live on the island and are there to assist with any needs and guide you around (if requested) to ensure a safe, and fun visit.
Bikes are available for use during the stay for trips to and from the beach.
Additional third-party excursions can be booked for an additional rate –
- Day boat trips / snorkeling
- Fishing (rod or spear)
- Watersports
- Sunrise Yoga
- Mainland excursions
Other things to note
Worried about logistics? Please don’t be – we have a small staff on the island that will assist with getting you to and from the mainland, advanced provisions and third-party activity bookings during your stay. The staff live in staff quarters, away from the main homes, and is there as a resource for you during your stay.
