A traditional market is held twice a week in the square and a farmers' market is held on the last Friday of each month, a perfect opportunity to sample some of the delights produced in the area. The Brewery Arts Centre regularly hosts specialist exhibitions including the Mountain Film Festival in November and Mintfest, Kendal's International Festival of Street Art, which runs at the end of August each year.
