Sea Star Cottage in Spanish Wells, Bahamas is just a one minute golf cart ride away from a beautiful, white, powder-sand beach that stretches along the northern shore of Spanish Wells. Expansion and renovation of Sea Star Cottage was completed in 2016. This quaint cottage consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a full size kitchen, living area, laundry room and an outdoor shower. There is a balcony off the master bedroom, a deck off the kitchen for outside dining and a lovely front porch for relaxing and entertaining. The cottage is fully air conditioned, but island weather is warm and breezy so you may want open the windows. Two bicycles are included with every rental. Truly a comfortable place to kick back and relax with all the modern conveniences. Ideally located, Sea Star Cottage is tucked away on a quiet side-street between 14th and 15th streets, yet centrally located and close to all the convenient amenities that Spanish Wells has to offer, including restaurants, bars, grocery stores, a bank, medical clinics and more.
The nearby beach is great for swimming, kayaking and exploring. There are bone-fishing flats in the shallow waters surrounding the island, and just offshore are beautiful coral reefs, perfect for snorkeling and fishing. Snorkeling and deep sea fishing trips are easily arranged. "It's better in the Bahamas!"
Spanish Wells (St. George's Cay) is a beautiful and tranquil island in the Bahamas located a 1/2 mile off the northern tip of North Eleuthera. Just a few miles form the North Eleuthera Airport (ELH). It is approximately 215 miles east of Miami, Florida and about 48 miles northeast of Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. Spanish Wells is two miles long and a half of a mile wide. It is linked to neighboring Russell Island by a small bridge.
Spanish Wells is predominantly a fishing village and the majority of employment comes from the crawfishing industry. Spanish Wells is a friendly and safe island community with a wide array of products and services available. There are several restaurants which serve breakfast, lunch and dinner offering dine-in or take-out, food stores, a bank (ATM), churches, ; all within close proximity to each other.
There are many historic homes……..The local residents are very friendly and take great pride in their island. The settlement is quite charming and keeps visitors coming back year after year.
Travel to Spanish Wells is via ELH (North Eleuthera) airport. There are direct flights to ELH by Delta from Atlanta, American Airlines from Miami and Silver Airways (United and Jet Blue partner) from Ft Lauderdale, or connecting through Nassau and then connect to ELH on BahamasAir or Pineapple Airways. If you are coming via Nassau there is a fast ferry from Nassau. The ferry is about a 2 1/2 hour trip departs Nassau daily (except Tuesdays) about 8:00am and leaves Spanish Wells about 4:20p so overnight stays are required in Nassau to make flight connections.
Once you arrive at North Eleuthera (ELH) airport you can use Pinder's Taxi and Ferry service at $15 each way per person to get to Spanish Wells. We will happy too meet you and get you settled into Sea Star Cottage.
